The Acne Files: How to Deal With Acne
July 3, 2012 3:52 pmBesides having good eating habits, you can do quite a bit through your daily regime to prevent acne. To help you prevent acne breakouts from forming, and the acne scarred skin that can result, here’s an acne treatment system that really works:
1. Wash your acne prone skin once a day with a gentle cleanser that contains Salicylic Acid. It will help slow the production of oil, . At 360 Skin we believe strongly in Image’s Clear Cell Salicylic Gel Cleanser. It gently exfoliates dead skin cells, kills acne bacteria, helps control oil production, and keeps skin smooth and shine free.
2. Follow good, common sense skin practices: this includes not popping or picking at acne whiteheads, pimples, or blackheads, . When you “pop a pimple” in truth you are spreading bacteria across your entire face to uninfected pores which increases acne issues – and most likely causing scars as well.
3. Never, EVER use a scrub to deal with acne. Abrasive scrubs such as St Ives Apricot Scrub are like taking ground glass and rubbing it all over the affected areas. The rough, uneven texture of a scrub breaks opens the skin through millions of tiny tears spreading acne causing bacteria into clean, healthy pores. If you have a scrub such as this in your bathroom THROW IT OUT!
4. Use an acne medicine with benzoyl peroxide, the most effective acne treatment to prevent acne breakouts. This will help reduce acne redness and irritation while helping preventing acne scars.
5. Always protect acne breakouts from the sun with a sunscreen containing zinc and titanium such as Image’s Daily Defense SPF 30. Further damage to the skin due to sun exposure can darken acne marks and make acne scars worse.
So now, instead of complaining about how acne has destroyed your life, take charge of the situation and work to cure acne – permanently! We here at 360 Skin are happy to help you get and maintain the beautiful skin you truly deserve through education and one-on-one appointments. Please let us know how we can help.
